Our Beliefs

At Spirit of Joy, We Believe:

  • In a Triune (3-in-1) God made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • That Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
  • That the Bible is the Word of God spoken through the prophets.
  • That the whole Bible (both Old and New Testament) is true.
  • In the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During our services, we proudly state our beliefs in the form of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

We fully acknowledge that developing a relationship with God is an ongoing and life-long journey. We’re not looking for perfection from our members, only that they have a heart for the Lord. Our church encompasses the steps of a person’s spiritual journey with three words: Encounter-Become-Go.

The exciting step of “Encounter” is when a person first learns about Jesus. There’s nothing more exhilarating than finding out for the first time that the God of the universe loves you, that He erases your past mistakes, and that He allows you to live forever with Him. Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not! At Spirit of Joy, we can show you just how true it really is.

“God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.”

John 3:17

If this is the step you’re on in your spiritual journey, we’d love for you to join us on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. for a Biblical message. We know it can sometimes be scary to try a new place for the first time, so we’ve put together some information on what you can expect when you arrive.

If you’re not yet ready to come on Sunday but have some questions about Christianity and why we believe what we do, feel free to reach out to Pastor Haney and he’ll help get you an answer.

“Become” is the part of the journey where a person expands their knowledge and develops a deep relationship with Christ.

It’s also in this step that they’ll really start to see a change in how they live and see the world. Old priorities, relationships, and hurts just won’t look the same when seen through God’s eyes. And that’s a good thing! It’s the knowledge of God and what He’s done for us that gives us hope, peace, and joy.

“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

Psalm 16:11

Are you in the “Become” stage of your journey? If so, we offer several resources to help you grow in Christ. For instance, you can join us at one of our Bible Studies, meet fellow Christians at a Small Group meeting, or take home Christian films and literature by utilizing our online Media Library.

The “Go” stage of the journey isn’t the end of growing and learning. It’s simply an expansion of the Christian experience. God has given all believers a mission (if we choose to accept it):

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

As ambassadors for Christ, it is our task to share the love and truth of Jesus with others. There are many ways to do this, and God gives each and every one of us a special purpose. If you want to further examine what special gifts God has given you, than we’d encourage you to reach out to Pastor Haney and request a meeting so that he can help you discover what they are.

If you know what your spiritual gifts are and want to start shining your light into the community, then check out our Spread Joy page. There, we have a wide range of volunteer opportunities available.
